Trend Report: Snakeskin
Making its way into Autumn/Winter 2014 is the revitalisation of the snakeskin trend. From luxe accessories to structured jackets and printed pants, snakeskin is an easy way to make a statement without being too bold.
Whether real or faux, exotic snakeskin has walked the runway and has been a big hit since the spring 2013 collections which featured Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Prada, who worked the glamorous fabric into jackets for women, ladies dresses and accessories.
Now, the trend has been re-created into classic printed styles in both traditional serpent colour schemes and modernised monochromatic graphic prints.
For women’s clothing, snakeskin prints have been added as contrasting panels to classic black blazers as seen from Australian designers such as WISH, which look fabulous teamed with matching printed pants for a refreshing work appropriate pant suit style.
This allows snakeskin prints to become a versatile addition to any wardrobe, whether worn to work in a classic cut jacket with tailored black pants or out to dinner with a contrasting colour pop heel – the styling choices are endless for womens clothes.
Saints + Secrets have also used their Serpentine Collection to showcase this magnificent trend. Mix and match pieces teamed with colour block or plains will create a look that is not overwhelming.
Our top picks from AlibiOnline are the Viper Pant and Viper Jacket by WISH, which look fantastic when teamed together as a matching pant suit, or worn separately with a classic white top or a pair of jeans.
